Are the pods easy to heat?
Absolutely! They are built to be very easy to heat with the Farho Eco Heating System, and also to hold the heat for several days. They are steel framed structures with 150mm Kingspan floor and roof insulation, 100mm Synthesia Technology breathable spray foam insulation onto cement fibre board, and 100mm EPS external insulation. This provides thermal conductivity of 0.25, which is the measure of its ability to conduct heat. This means the materials don’t allow heat to pass through easily.
Does Holmes Living Solution Pods require planning permission?
The New Development Plan for County Mayo considers single story Granny flats / independent living units not exceeding a floor area of 60m2, and remote working units not exceeding a floor area of 25m2. If floor area is above these requirements it may need planning permission. We can provide design and guidance for planning permission but Holmes Living Solutions would advise all customers to contact their local planning permission county council for more information.
How long will Holmes Living Solutions Pods last?
With the robust structure provided, maintenance-free exterior and AA rating double glaze windows and doors, our pods are expected to last decades. We provide a 25 year structural guarantee on the steel structure, steel floor, roof and walls.
Is there electrical and running water connections?
Yes of course. When we access the site we can advise what would best suit your requirements, and we will organise the connections.
Can I customise it to my taste?
Definitely! You can choose all of the kitchen options, furniture, and acyrlic finish color for the exterior. We can accommodate design alterations – just ask! You also have the option to add PV panels / solar panels and air-to-water heating at an extra cost.
